MC2 > Singleplayer > Walkthrough > Campaign 1 Mission 3 Once again the bandits are very much restricted to short and medium ranged weapons. Bear this in mind and take along long and medium range weapons to counter this, like in the previous mission. The only difference is a slight increase in drop weight, also jump jets are wasted on this mission. My Load Out
The Mission Like Diaz says, the turret control is well guarded, you are much better off disabling the turrets as you dont need them anyway. Instead of going straight to the base, go diagonally across the road and up the hill to the east. Now go north to the two autocanon turrets and take them out from range. Next go down to where the turrets were and wait for some mechs to go close to the fuel dump Diaz mentioned before blowing it up. There is a collection of mechs, 1 Urbanmech and about 3 Fire Ants at the objective, some to the north of the fuel tanks, some by the other autocanons, accompanied by some vehicles. About 2 should come towards you when you stand where the autocanons were. Just keep backing away and targeting the one nearest you if one falls over. Once they've gone go back to the objective and do the same to the other mechs. The should come after you once you get to a certain position. Once all the enemies at the outpost are gone Diaz will tell you to move to the hills overlooking the road and hold position. I suggest the hill to the south-east of the small outpost where the control building for the turrets you just disabled is. In the convoy there are two fire ants, two Vedette', a fuel truck, a cargo truck, a resource truck and the HQ vehicle. Dont blow the fuel truck or the cargo truck or try and capture anything until the guard is gone, as you might blow up something you didn't want to :P. Once either a Vedette or a Fire Ant comes in range, target it. The Vedette are long range, but should be easy enough to kill for you to just stand there and fire. When the Fire Ants come near, Target those (even if your fighting a Vedette) and back away across the hill as it comes near. The Vedette wont follow you across the hill leaving you to deal with the Fire Ants. Then go back for the rest of the convoy. Dont blow up the fuel truck - you may blow up your resource truck and loose the resources. Once the convoys taken care of move north up the "main" road and you should see a sensor contact - capture it, its another resource truck. After that go east to another little town. These is a vehicle defending another resource bunker in that town. That's all the resource bunkers on this map, so next head north-west to a little hill to the East of the base in the top corner. From here you can advance on the base and take out the missile turrets with PPC's and deal with the guard of fire ants as the come out of the base. Dont capture the weapons facility yet though. A reasonable force of enemy mechs (about 4 Fire Ants and a Starslayer), accompanied by about 4 LRM launchers will pass through shortly after you capture the facility, so you may want to sacrifice a salvage to repair your mechs. I would advise it as capturing the Starslayer before the rest of the attack force is destroyed is fairly hard, as as soon as the last unit is down the mission ends and you cant salvage any more mechs. Once your ready, (make sure you've salvaged the other mech that you want to salvage - I salvaged the Urbanmech at the first outpost), capture the weapons facility and move your mechs southwards. There are two groups of bandits that come in, one of mainly mechs that contains the Starslayer that comes in basically along the road coming from the west side of the map, The second that you want to bypass comes from the hill to the north of that road. South of the road the Mech bandit force comes in on there is a hill with a slope that's too steel to climb facing towards the road. If you head for the east side of that hill and go to the south of that road then you should be able to get the mech bandit force to follow you, and the other bandit force will be lagging behind following you around the hill. Once you have the mechs following you with the LRM's far away enough for you to be safe from them you can destroy those mechs by staying at medium range (make sure that you back away to the south east so that you dont back away into the LRM launchers). As soon as the Starslayer is down salvage him (even if its still the middle of a battle), and once the mechs are all gone you can go and destroy the LRM launchers by running up close to them to complete the mission.
