MC2 > SinglePlayer > Walkthrough > Campaign 1 Mission 1

Like MC1, this mission is essentially a walkthrough and possibly and introduction despite having tutorial missions. You should have no problems coming out of this one unscathed with 2 extra mech's. Your initial mech selection is fixed, so there is no worries about that, (not that you'd want to change it anyway), so its straight into the action...

As soon as you gain control of your mech's move them to the waypoint. Diaz (the tactical officer, or the woman's voice that you hear), will tell your to destroy the hanger. As there is no rush tell your mechs to destroy conserving their ammo (only using weapons that dont use ammo). To do this hold A while clicking on the target. As soon as the hanger is gone Diaz will inform you of some enemies. Move your mechs to the north of the base and there will be some infantry there, they shouldn't be a problem and you can near enough ignore them as manually targeting the infantry is just a waste of time.

The next encounter is two centipedes. These are armed with medium range lasers and so as long as you keep at long range (by backing away from them), you an pick these off in a couple of salvos with LRM's

Next up is 4 LRM launchers. The first two are the sensor targets north of the base on the shoreline. Run up to these and attack them at close range, these too should die quickly, next run up the the first two sensor contacts on the land bridge, these are LRM and kill these in the same way. The last two sensor contacts are centipedes again and can be taken out by staying at long range from them and destroying them with your own LRM's.

The music will now change and you are instructed to go to the drop point and order a repair truck. There is no need for a repair truck, and doing so means that you can only salvage one mech, so dont bother.

You should see two sensor targets through the trees. These are Urban Mechs and are fitted with medium and short range weapons. Go through the trees, fire off a few round to attract their attention and go back through the trees and wait for them on the other side where you can maneuver to keep your distance from them. They are relatively slow and so keeping them at long range and destroying them with LRM's should be easy once again. Once gone, salvage one of them and keep him out of the way somewhere (the south of the forest should do).

Also through the forest is two Harasser's armed with short range missiles. Once again stay at medium range and hammer them with your PPC's and other medium / long range weapons.

Last up, the hardest bit of the entire mission - on the Island with your extraction point on there is a small bandit force. Move just across the water and wait for them to start moving before withdrawing back across the river. There will be an enemy Starslayer which will follow you. Once again he's armed only with short and medium range weapons and so just keep him at long range and he wont scratch you. He is a fairly large mech however, so be prepared for him to be following you a fair way around the north island before he goes! If you want you can just let him into medium range. You'll get some PPC shots in, and as long as he doesn't actually disable one of your mechs, as your mechs are re-fitted free of change at the end of the mission you've lost nothing.

Salvage the downed Starslayer, put him with your Urbanmech and finally head back to the island with the extraction marker on it and take out the remaining unit. As most of them are LRM launchers run up to them and take 'em out close range. Once your done Diaz will say "looks like all of them", so take all of your mechs (including the two salvaged ones), and send them to the extraction markers. Viola Mission one, done! :)
