Description

The Particle Projectile Canon, or PPC, fires bolts consisting mainly of high energy protons or ions. Unlike laser weapons, the PPC is able to deliver both kinetic and thermal energy, resulting in excellent penetration power against armor. 

The ER, or Extended-Range version of the PPC fires a more cohesive bolt that can inflict damage at long range, but at the expense of greatly increased heat production.
