MC1 > SinglePlayer > Walkthrough > Op 1 Mission 1 This mission is really just a tutorial in my eyes, but you should still try to minimize damage and get all the salvage you can as every little bit counts towards later missions. Even if the mech's you can salvage here aren't much use in the harder missions they are a step to being able to salvage the bigger badder mech's in the later missions. Loadouts You start off with only 3 mech's and no ability to get more. What they have given you is fine, keep everything as it is. You have 1 Commando-A 1 Commando-W and 1 Firestarter-W The Mission! Go to the top of the hill to the east to get a better view and you should see a sports car and an armored car. Take lynx and destroy the armored car from the ridge with the PPC. You should be able to get close enough to fire without the car chasing you. You can do the same to the spots car if you want! Next take all your mech's and go north and follow the forest to a resource building and two laser turrets. Destroy the turrets with the PPC from medium range (they shouldn't be able to hit you) and capture the building. Next follow the forest again until you end up somewhere in the top left corner above objective 3. The only active unit is an Uller-W so don't worry about any other sensor readings, these are unmanned vehicles. You should be able to go around the base and reveal the Uller but maintain a reasonable distance from the cliff so the Uller doesn't see you. Do this (the point where you can see him is the the east of him). Next carry on round the base (still staying out of the Ullers range) and destroy the armored car and laser turret to the south of the base. Next move onto a small hump facing the Uller. Target the uller from position (the "c" key). The Uller wont notice until he actually hits even if he misses. Once lynx hits, run up with all your mech's to close range and get all of them to fire normally. Stay close as overall you have more close range weapons, also work out who the Uller is targeting and get him to run about to make him harder to hit. Once the Uller is dead check to see if you salvaged if. If you didn't re-start, other wise carry on and destroy the buildings here. It doesn't really matter what weapons you salvaged with the uller, you probably wont use any of them. Hove back to objective 1 next. Destroy the two armored cars with Lynx and his PPC, the fuel truck should move out, let it go DON'T shoot it! Clear out this base (destroy the turret with the PPC) and destroy the two objectives. Next move south to a big hill and then west to a small dirt track. Follow this to a resource building and two J. Edgars. Destroy the 2 Edgars (find out who is being targeted and run them about to make the harder to hit) and capture the building. Finally you should be able to reveal an armored car in the second objective and a turret from the hill to the north of the second objective. Destroy thee with the PPC (again you can target the armored car without him moving) and wait for the fuel truck to get into position in the base. Next move forward until you can see the truck, and then edge forward some more until the commando comes running. When the commando is just coming past the truck blow up the truck and then finish what remains of the commando. If you don't salvage it then don't worry. Destroy the one remaining building here to complete the mission. If at any time one of your mech's looks in a bad way (most likely Lynx) keep them out of the way and let your other mech's do the dirty work. If you don't get the uller re-start, you need it in later missions (well maybe not need but it seriously helps). Also of you loose a weapon (especially the PPC) re-start. Weapons like the PPC are like gold dust (even in the later mission). In this mission the only damage will be inflicted by the Uller, Commando (possibly) and the two Edgars, everything else can be taken out without even being shot at (with a little skill and luck). Remember every damaged armor plate adds up at the end! Map - Walkthroughs List - Next Mission |
